Teach-in
The Pedagogical Museum, Belgrade, Serbia, December 2008-January 2009.
Teach-in was conceived for the Pedagogical Museum in Belgrade as a series of interventions (installation, performance and video) situated throughout the museum’s permanent exhibition. Teach-in positions itself between two textual boundaries–Letter to Jane (Investigation of an Image) by Jean-Luc Godard/ Jean-Pierre Gorin (1972) and October#123 (2008), where six questions are posed to artists and academics concerning responses to the U.S. led invasion of Iraq. The work examines (to a degree ironically) the role of artists engaged in political resistance in the Vietnam War era and in 2008/2009. By quoting language from 1972 that now seems politically outdated, and by emphasizing the inadequate scope of the questions posed in 2008, the work performs an alternative political relation.
